eScripts Marketing Limited (trading as PharmaDoctor) has announced that it has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO) as part of the ongoing expansion of the company’s experienced multi-disciplinary team.

Graham Thoms, formerly head of commercial operations UK, Ireland and southern Europe for global biotech company Valneva, will be tasked with expanding PharmaDoctor’s clinical service support packages into pharmacies across the UK as part of PharmaDoctor’s pharmacy service development programme across a wide range of therapeutic areas.

With 20 years’ experience within the UK and international pharmaceutical and healthcare industries developing and launching successful and profitable pharmacy services, Mr Thoms will be instrumental in expanding PharmaDoctor’s clinical service support packages for pharmacy and developing strategic partnerships with leading pharmacy service providers and pharmaceutical companies. Mr Thoms has an impressive track record of developing and introducing pharmacy vaccination services during his time at Novartis, GSK and Valneva.

He is attributed with creating Europe’s first pharmacy flu jab service in the UK (now nationally commissioned by the NHS), the successful Pilgrim Health Programme (pharmacy meningococcal ACWY vaccination service in partnership with the Muslim Council of Britain), as well as the development of travel health services in pharmacies across the UK.

'We’re delighted to be welcoming Graham at an exciting time for PharmaDoctor and a pivotal period for pharmacy service provision in the UK,' stated Joaquim Pereira, digital director, PharmaDoctor. 'As one of the most talented pharmacy service professionals in the UK, Graham’s drive and extensive experience will be invaluable in ensuring PharmaDoctor’s clinical support packages successfully deliver on providing pharmacies with clinically robust, commercially profitable services.'

'At this difficult time for UK pharmacy, I passionately believe that clinical services present the greatest opportunity in pharmacy,' commented Graham Thoms. 'I am excited to join the experienced multi-disciplinary team at PharmaDoctor to accelerate the development of new pharmacy support services – helping UK pharmacists play a pivotal role in healthcare service provision, whilst helping them counteract the financial losses as a result of the recent pharmacy funding cuts.'
