Registration opens to provide spring Covid vaccinations
Pharmacy owners who intend to provide Covid vaccinations during the spring 2026 campaign have been reminded that registration opened on 5 January 2026.
Contractors who want to provide the service from the start of the spring campaign must register by 2 February 2026 to ensure that they receive a supply of Covid vaccine in time.

Online registration for the Covid vaccination service runs until 31 March 2026 via the electronic registration declaration form.
This is an interim arrangement until ‘Manage Your Service’ (MYS) registration and de-registration is available from 1 April 2026.
Recent changes to the Covid vaccination service mean that contractors can provide either the Covid and adult flu vaccination services, or only the adult flu vaccination service.
There will no longer be an additional £10 payment for the administration of Covid vaccinations to housebound people, but the Covid vaccination item of service fee has increased.

Pharmacy contractors will be able to claim £8.70 per Covid vaccine administered between 1 September 2026 and 31 January 2027 while the flu vaccination campaign is underway, and £10.06 outside the flu vaccination campaign.
The eligible cohorts for the Covid spring 2026 programme include:
- Adults aged 75 years and over;
- Residents in a care home for older adults;
- Individuals aged 6 months and over who are
Vaccination should begin from 13 April 2026 and end on 30 June 2026. Further information is available on the NHS England website.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) recently announced it will carry out work to strengthen the UK’s pandemic preparedness, including vaccine delivery and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) response over the next year.
The UKHSA’s vaccination work will include providing system clinical leadership through the national immunisation network, developing guidance for immunisation programmes, and supporting public and patient-facing communications to encourage uptake.
