The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has launched a new women's health hub, bringing together clinical resources on managing conditions such as excessive menstrual bleeding, contraception and menopause.

The hub, published as part of the RPS pharmacy guides series, is designed to help pharmacy teams raise awareness with patients and deliver more consistent care across priority areas of women's health.

The launch follows publication of the RPS's updated women's health position statement in November.

The new statement represents a shift from the organisation's 2021 document, which was published during the Covid pandemic in response to the UK government's call for evidence for its women's health strategy.

The updated version is described by the RPS as a 'proactive piece of work' led by a Scottish clinical leadership fellow, with the content ‘thoroughly informed’ by pharmacists, the wider multidisciplinary team and a much stronger patient voice.

The statement sets out seven key recommendations covering patient engagement, collaboration, shared patient records, education, digital healthcare and AI, interventions and awareness, and sustainability.

It emphasises that women should expect to receive 'high quality, consistent, culturally sensitive and comprehensive clinical support at every stage from a supportive and skilled pharmacy team'.
