Pharmacists are being asked to take part in an independent survey to assess the social value of the sector.

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) is calling on pharmacists to respond to the study, conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), in order to create an accurate picture of the services pharmacies provide across the country.
It is hoped the survey results will assist negotiations by providing a "robust evidence base" to support community pharmacy.
Pharmacy teams are being invited to complete a short questionnaire on additional activities relating to dispensing prescriptions, for example delivery of medicines and provision of monitored dosage systems.

Secondly the PSNC is asking pharmacists to participate in data collection on "advice on self-care or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines".
Participating pharmacists will collect data over the week from Wednesday 1 June to Tuesday 7 June to record how many times they dispense advice on self-care or the use of OTC medicines.
