Abidec Multivitamin drops are out of stock until further notice, according to a medicine supply notification issued by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
The notification categorises the shortage as Tier 2 – medium impact.
Dalivit oral drops remain available but are only able to support prescription demand.
Other alternative multivitamin drops are also available.
A copy of the medicine supply notification has been sent to all pharmacy NHS email addresses, along with actions required and supporting information.
The DHSC and NHS England/NHS Improvement Medicines Supply Tool on the Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) website provides up to date information on supply issues, including any changes to resupply dates. An NHS email address is required for access.
New shortages not listed on the SPS website can be reported using Community Pharmacy England’s shortage reporting tool.
This latest supply issue is one of many. Diclofenac eye drops, loop diuretic tablets, and chronic pain patches have all been hit by stock shortages in the past few weeks.
Amiodarone 200mg tablets are also out of stock until early August 2025.
These shortages come after MPs found that medicine shortages were a ‘systematic threat’ to care, placing a huge burden on pharmacy teams and disrupting the delivery of treatment across England.
