Supplies of some once-weekly estradiol patches are due to be discontinued from late 2025, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has confirmed.
Progynova TS 50micrograms/24hours and 100micrograms/24hours transdermal patches, used for hormone replacement therapy (HRT), will be discontinued from late December 2025 and February 2026 respectively, according to a medicine supply notification.
FemSeven 50micrograms/24hours and 100micrograms/24hours transdermal patches – also once-weekly products – remain available and can support increased demand.
Twice-weekly estradiol patches, including Evorel 50micrograms and 100micrograms and Estraderm MX 50micrograms and 100micrograms, also remain available.
The DHSC said a copy of the supply notification, which includes further information and actions required, has been circulated to all pharmacy NHS email accounts.
Further updates, including any changes to expected discontinuation dates, are available via the online medicines supply tool.
