Pharmacist trainees can continue to access the e-Portfolio for foundation-year as the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has been awarded a contract extension.

The RPS will deliver the NHS England Foundation Trainee Pharmacist Programme e-Portfolio for another year after NHS England extended the contract, which began in 2021.

Powered by Axia Digital, the tool provides support during the trainee year in preparation for the registration exam. It enables trainees to document and map their learning and development, review their progress, and achieve sign off for completion of the interim standards for initial education and training of pharmacists in the lead up to the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration assessment.

Helen Chang, Associate Director for Education at RPS, said: ‘We’re delighted to continue supporting the education and development of the pharmacy workforce by delivering the NHS England Foundation e-Portfolio for another year.

‘This tool underpins a long-term education pathway and ensures trainees have a consistent and structured way to evidence their progress, helping them transition seamlessly into post-registration programmes.

‘We’re also proud to continue working in partnership with NHS England to support trainees and supervisors.’

To support using the portfolio, NHS England and RPS will host a series of introductory webinars in July for trainees, designated supervisors and designated prescribing practitioners.

According to Axia Digital, the e-portfolio is designed as a lifelong learning tool, allowing members to record evidence of their practice as they advance in their careers, identify both strengths and areas where further development is needed, evaluate their professional practice against established frameworks and curricula and plan and focus on their ongoing personal and professional growth.
