Chief executive of the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp) Dr Leyla Hannbeck will be standing in the general election expected this year, she has confirmed.

The community pharmacy leader has been selected as a Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Broadland and Fakenham.

The Anglia constituency is newly formed for the upcoming election, following a review of constituency boundaries, and includes the district of Broadland and the town of Fakenham, in Norfolk.

The area is currently represented by Jerome Mayhew, a Conservative MP.

Dr Hannbeck has led AIMp since 2019, following almost a decade in various roles at the National Pharmacy Association (NPA).

In a statement earlier this week, a spokesperson for AIMp said: ‘Our CEO is pleased to announce that she has been selected as a Prospective Parliamentary Candidate and will be standing in this general election. More details on this will be coming soon. So of course, vote Pharmacy!’
