Alliance Healthcare has announced the appointment of Julian Mount as its new managing director for the UK.
He takes over the wholesale pharmaceutical division of the transatlantic Walgreens Boots Alliance, which dominates both the retail and distribution markets in the UK.
Julian Mount replaces Jeremy Main, whose retirement from the business comes after nearly a decade as UK managing director.
Alliance Healthcare supplies medicines, healthcare products and services to around 110,000 pharmacies, health centers and hospitals across Europe each year.
The distribution arm of the holding company also has a stake in retail, through the Europe-wide Alphega branding of independent pharmacies.
The incoming managing director, Julian Mount, has 30 years’ experience as a senior healthcare industry executive.
He recently joined Walgreens Boots Alliance as acting director and has previously held positions at major manufacturers Pfizer (1989-2014) and Alexion Pharmaceuticals (2014-2016).
