A.Vogel is one of the leading herbal brands in the UK, Ireland and many other parts of the world. The majority of our products are based on fresh herb extracts and manufactured in Switzerland.
A.Vogel is a modern science-based company, founded upon the skills, knowledge and traditions of the medical herbalist. Our leading licensed products cover a wide range of minor self-limiting conditions and include Echinaforce® Echinacea drops and Dormeasan® Valerian-Hops oral drops.
Our founder, Alfred Vogel, realised decades ago that many factors can influence the quality of the herbal product you use. Unlike conventional medication, herbal products available can exhibit considerable differences in quality, depending on a number of factors.
For herbal remedies, the quality of the raw herb material used at the start of the manufacturing process is of prime importance – you can only extract the active ingredients which are present.
This is why we choose to use freshly harvested plants when making our herbal remedies. Indeed research shows that the fresh Echinacea extract used in Echinaforce contains almost 3 times more active substances than can be obtained from the same amount of dried herbs*.
In using our herbs fresh from harvesting, we avoid the need to dry, fumigate and store plant material – factors which encourage the decay of active phytochemical substances.
The majority of herbs used for A.Vogel products are grown in Switzerland without the use of artificial fertilisers, herbicides or insecticides. This gives us control over how we cultivate our herbs - from planting through to harvesting using Good Agricultural and Collection Practice (GACP). This also ensures that we use our plant material in a sustainable way. Our licensed herbal remedies are manufactured to GMP standards.
This is why we can still say, like our founder Alfred Vogel did, that ‘Not all herbal remedies are the same’.
